Preserving the Second Amendment: The Call for a No-Compromise Stance Against Gun Control

In the ongoing struggle to safeguard Second Amendment rights, the threat doesn’t manifest through grand legislative acts but rather through persistent compromise. The gradual erosion of the right to bear arms, fueled by ongoing concessions to anti-gun advocates, underscores the need for gun owners to adopt an unwavering stance in the face of the well-funded gun control lobby.

The bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022, also known as the Cornyn-Murphy compromise, was presented as a fair solution by Senators John Cornyn and Chris Murphy. However, the Biden Administration’s selective exploitation of provisions, such as withholding funding from schools with archery or hunting programs, has stirred concerns among Republicans, including the bill’s author, John Cornyn.

A subtle adjustment in statutory language, facilitated by the BCA, has given the Biden administration the leverage to implement universal background checks through administrative rulemaking. This alteration in the definition of “engaged in the business” within the Safer Communities Act has allowed the administration to cherry-pick enforcement, raising questions about its true intentions.

One notable provision in the BCA permits licensed gun dealers to use the NICS background check system for screening potential employees, a tool to ensure they are not prohibited individuals.

While the notion of gun control is not novel, advocates for the Second Amendment must understand that the billionaire-funded lobby is not an ally but seeks the complete elimination of these rights through any means necessary. Recognizing this as a protracted battle, they aim to effect incremental changes over time, rendering the Second Amendment as ineffectual as the right to bear arms in Mexico.

The call to action extends to reaching out to elected officials, impressing upon them that public support hinges on their unwavering stance against gun control. Such a collective stance has the potential to significantly influence the behavior and voting decisions of elected officials, emphasizing the importance of adopting a no-compromise position.
